TID Vlora
The overall objective of the project is to foster economic development of the area through enhancement of tourism activity fostered by restoration and urban requalification of the historical area of Vlora including "Justin Godard" street. The improvement of the historical area in subject through the physical infrastructure's improvement as well as historical buildings' restoration is expected to attract more tourists, encourage the development of local business consequently establish a better use of resources. The revitalization of the historic site near Vlora center, involves a large project area about 57 400 sq.m. Within this study area the detailed design includes a total area of 27 000 sq.m that aims to develop this area to a touristic destination of cultural and historical importance. The requalification design near Vlora city center includes urban design, restoration design of the cultural monuments buildings and reconstruction of other buildings within the study area. The detailed design for the overall area is financed by AADF on behalf of the Albanian Government and Municipality of Vlora. The old city center will become one of the main tourist attractions in Vlora.The area of investment houses 68 units which diverse in their status and are built in different periods of time, 10 of which are cultural monuments of the first category and two streets of high cultural and architectonic importance declared cultural monuments of the first category, Justin Godard Street and Jewish Street. The Historic Center of Vlora is a symbol of traditional urban life of the city, and a destination of commercial value. The complexity of the area in study is caused by informal buildings build after 1990. The project aims to integrate this new buildings within the historical context.
