The castle of Tirana, owned by one of the oldest families in Tirana, Toptani, has been for a long time, an area almost in darkness. The challenge of Atelier 4 has been to preserve and highlight the history of the area, while transforming it into an environment where the urban life of Tirana will flourish. The old castle of Tirana has been turned into a space, where the old and the new come together to serve as a culinary center for the traditional Albanian cuisine, as well as an area for the development of handicrafts, culture and art. This space created more job opportunities and has become one of the most frequented places, not only for the local population of the capital, but also for foreign tourists. The space aims to preserve the Albanian tradition and acts as a pleasant attraction between the towers of Tirana, ultra-modern facilities and traditional architecture.
