Residential Building in Tirana
This object is located in the heart of the capital of Albania. The architectural project finds inspiration precisely from the regular urban fabric of the area called the “former Blocâ€, characterized by the quadratic network of roads. The new volume that is placed between two existing objects is presented as a block idea. Which takes the place left vacant by defining and giving character the urban facade of the street and the public square that is created in the south. The initial block is melted and fragmented by respecting the distances urban in relation to border facilities in the north, south and east. This operation determines both the two main materials and compositions of the object, "Skin" and "interior". The volumetric "skin" that coats the outer perimeter facades of the building, is consisting of a regular quadratic network of architectural columns with cladding travertine attached to the reinforced concrete structure of the building. Step and frames formed follow mostly the internal distribution of the premises, magnifying in the case of day areas. The parts of the building where fractures and scaling occur, the "interior", is consisting of large volumetric frames with shaped brick cladding cubes, which follow an alternating rhythm a / b in both directions, vertically and horizontally, to make room for the loggias and verandas of residential apartments. Ground floor, through the pedestrian passage that describes it in a northwest direction, is conceived as a transparent junction between the road and the public square. This passage also provides access to commercial premises, offices and residential apartments, as in its center is placed the nucleus of connections vertical of the building, which consists of the group of 4 elevators and stairs fire retardant containing vertical chimney for natural ventilation and removal of smoke. Public square created between the new facility and existing facilities to the south and east, in addition to resolving a chaotic and degraded situation.
